6. RAF Fearn, Scotland's Dornoch Firth

Location: Scotland's Scottish Highlands, Dornoch Firth Time frame: 1941–1942 The price to stay in the tower is $92 per night. One of Scotland's long-forgotten airfields is Fearn Airfield. RAF Fearn was constructed in 1941 and is situated in the Scottish Highlands, close to Tain. It wasn't formally opened until 1942, when the British Royal Navy took control of it. It had a working control tower, but the tower was not up to RN standards; therefore, the Navy had to update it.

Several separate battalions were organized at the airfield and shipped off to fight in World War II with the intention of using it as a torpedo training school. Even though it is mostly abandoned, the airfield nevertheless exists in its entirety today.
