3. Type 1 Jeans from Levi's

Cost: $24.99* Produced by: Levi's
bought from: Levi's retailers
When Levi's Jeans made their Type 1 debut, significant marketing investments were undertaken. These expenditures were not profitable, though, and the Type 1 was an obvious failure as a brand. A contributing factor in the brand's downfall was the peculiar Super Bowl that left a terrible impression on prospective buyers.

Failing to see that the trend toward baggier, less-fitting jeans was more than just a fad was another big error Levi's made with Type 1. Even though Type I Jeans are no longer made, 1936 Type I Jackets are still available for $385.00. Levi claims that the jacket belongs to the "American working man."
For Levi's, who have historically dominated the denim industry in America and abroad, the misfire was an uncommon low point. Since then, the business has recovered and introduced more popular brands.
