Nothing compares to the feeling of cleanliness you get from giving yourself a thorough scrub in the tub with a loofah. Although natural loofahs are excellent for exfoliation, they are also havens for many types of mold and vermin.

Loofahs should be changed at least once a month, but ideally every few weeks, according to experts. If you wait much longer, you're almost washing yourself in mold, and nobody likes that. Painful skin infections may be brought on by dangerous bacteria and spores. Ensure you remove as much moisture as possible from it in between applications.
It's not a good idea to keep a loofah on display until it falls apart, but it's also the best way to end up with a nasty staph infection. We know which path we would rather choose for the price of a few dollars!
