The silicone and plastic mask was made by Donut Robotics, and it uses Bluetooth to link to a smartphone and translate text. It's interesting to note that even though it took $265,000 to get things started, the masks themselves will only cost $50 when they go on sale. In Japan, the C-Face Smart Mask is scheduled for release in December.
This brilliant idea has practically limitless applications, making it well worth the cost.
